Together We Can Do Great Things

®

Community

We believe giving back to the communities where we live and work is just as important as the work we do. Every month, year in and year out, Zachry team members and their families and friends lend a helping hand to those who need it most — because Every Person Matters   .

Salvation Army Shoe-in

Zachry volunteers including team members, friends, and family continue to help children across San Antonio every year find a new pair of shoes and the annual Salvation Army Annual Shoe-In event. Zachry has participated in this event every year for more than 10 years. The Salvation Arms works to end hunger and offers shelter for men, women, and families requiring emergency housing resulting from difficult life circumstances or natural disasters.

Days of Caring

For the first time in Zachry Corporation history, team members from across the country joined forces to coordinate a massive volunteer effort. The Zachry Corporation Volunteer Council (ZCVC) rallied regional volunteer sponsors from the Carolinas to West Texas to organize nine events in seven locations over three weekends in September 2021. As people came together, some for the first time in more than a year, relationships were rekindled while doing meaningful work and ZCVC Days of Caring quickly became more than a volunteer project.

Zachry Corporation partnered with Bridges to Prosperity in a collaborative effort to construct two foot-bridges in the country of Uganda, Africa. Each footbridge provides access to essential healthcare, fresh water, food sources, and educational opportunities for the local men, women, and children within a specific region of Uganda.

The mountainous land around these footbridges creates deep valleys that quickly flood with the rushing torrents that are extremely dangerous in the rainy season. The people who have crops to transport, herds to lead to grazing areas, and schools to reach, have no option but to cross these valleys. Providing such a tangible and permanent solution that transforms these Ugandans’ way of life was an incredibly meaningful experience for our volunteers.
